BINES announced themselves to the Rock & Roll world with first demo 'SHADOWS' which received over 1000 plays within its first month of release. With its upbeat drum rhythm (Pete Beer), strong lead guitar (Matt Brodrick) and catchy vocals, you can clearly see why it caught peoples attention. The band followed this up with the release of their first EP 'The Mill' recorded by producer Mark Jones at MJM Recording Studios. Opener 'Frame Of Mind' continues the vibe from their early demo, with a funky rhythm and laid back guitars, and you cant help but hear clear influences such as The Stone Roses and Charlatans. A highlight of the song is the catchy riff from bass player Jimmy Beer. 'Where's the Belief' follows and is a true Rock & Roll number. With the guitars at the forefront and aggressive lyrics, this is one of the stand out songs from the EP. Then comes 'Northern Lights' and you get the feel straight away this is going to be one of the bands trademark songs. With its sing along lyrics and catchy guitar sound, this song continues to be a fan favorite when played live. The EP finishes with acoustic track 'Having An Angel Stay', and brings the record to a beautiful end, whilst getting a chance to hear the depth in singer Danny Bowles' songwriting. 8 months later followed the bands very first Single 'These Streets', accompanied with B-Side track 'Red Rose. Both written about the bands hometown, Leyland the cover features the lads local pub The Eagle and Child.
